Very melodic, with great instrumentation as pizzicato strings support woodwind and brass leads, and dynamic as the piece jumps between lighter themes and fuller orchestral passages. A gentle choral backing lifts the piece, harpsichord adds festive shimmer. And sleigh bells? Well of course, but don't worry, it's tastefully subtle.

Panic sets in as you hurry to catch up, with too much to do in not enough time. If I say 'pirates' and you think 'Caribbean', then we both know where this is heading. With more than a passing reference to a certain well-known theme, it's every bit as swashbuckling, unleashing the full power of a cinematic orchestra and its percussive ensemble. Having said that, it does have slightly less seafaring tendencies and could easily lend itself to many other action settings from thrillers to adventure scenes, given its generally sterner feel. Epic stuff.
