Panic sets in as you hurry to catch up, with too much to do in not enough time. Here it is in musical form - bright, spritely passages followed by startling realisation and fast paced xylophone and string runs, all mixed up with a sense of urgency in a dramatic and dynamic composition featuring the whole orchestra.

Opening with a dramatic sequence of string ostinato and female vocal aahs, and building in intenstity through legato strings, rhythmic percussion and stabbing brass, the mood changes to a softer, magical mid-section of vocals and sweeping strings, sprinkled with harp runs and chimes. The action soon returns with more beating taiko rhythm and full orchestra to the climax of a piece that suggests epic drama, action, mystery and heroism.

Lush legato strings and an ambling tempo set a warm, relaxing and carefree mood, backed by gentle brushed drums, walking double bass line and muted background brass. A more playful hammond organ lead temporarily takes over, giving an old time vibe before returning to the familiar, gentle orchestration and theme. An innocent, cosy and romantic piece from yesteryear.

Very animated, with all the instruments of the orchestra featured for a dynamic and at times, deliberately hectic and manic feel, it captures both the fun, comical side of the circus with the darker, more horror themed associations we've come to see on the big screen. A softer mid section of horns and brass swells allows the piece calm and reset before building up once more to the main theme. Majestic and uplifting in ambience, with a powerful cinematic style.

Mixing the sinister with the heroic, it's dark, it's dramatic, it's epic - and uses all the usual ingredients of stabbing string ostinato, deep brass swells, pounding percussion and rhythmic pulses to create the mood. Very energising.
