Music tracks
A sentimental rock track with spacey lead guitar. Major use of tremolo and a big drum beat create movement in an otherwise slower paced piece. An optimistic mood, with a reflective tone.
Inquisitive indie pop song. Maybe it's the intimate vocals sung from the head, heart and throat, maybe it's the whistled chorus, maybe it's the curious theremin leads or retro tremolo guitar tones - who knows, but it's a mysterious and bold mix to create a slightly psychadelic flavour in a downbeat, sleepy tune about questioning mental control, which despite this, manages to remain light and mellow in vibe.
Dreamy indie track with a surprise. A vibraphone intro sets the spacey tone, continued by lazy vocals, tremolo guitar and piano backed by a steady beat. Background harmonies float in to build the atmosphere as the track evolves into an unexpected epic wall of sound - big distorted guitars, huge bass, pounding drums ....... before returning to the more serene state we had settled into. Dreamy and hypnotic - for the most part. Be warned!
Fast moving orchestral string track. Traditional pizzicato, Bartok pizzicato, tremolo, marcato shorts and legato passages all add to the ever changing dynamic landscape of the piece for a sumptuous and playful vibe that's free flowing and energetic. Rhythmically adventurous due to tempo changes, fast staccatto passages and smooth, contrasting themes, you never truly settle and find yourself swallowed by a piece full of suspense, edginess and nervous energy.
Light orchestral track of 2 contrasting halves. A soft piano intro sets a pensive tone as the piece builds up, using a delicate solo violin to enhance the mood and woodwinds and strings to grow intensity. As the track continues, so the mood changes as it swoons into a full orchestral celebration of romance and dance, using dynamic strings - shorts, pizzicato, legato and tremolo - over a supportive orchestral backdrop including piano and marimba. What starts as reflective and fragile transforms into an uplifting, romantic and joyous piece.
Calmly paced orchestral track featuring metronomic piano. Using muted strings and tremolo articulations to generate tension and intensity, the pulsing regularity of the simple piano theme plays with the long, sweeping violin and cello lines to generate a beautiful elegance, evoking drama, suspense and a sense of regret. Cinematically stylish and full of heartfelt emotion.
The title says 'News', but in truth, it's more than that. It certainly has a current affairs/political theme running through it, with its grand orchestral hits, tension-building ascensions, string ostinato, tremolo, percussive chimes and brass swells, but capturing such a cinematic dynamic opens it up to many other uses where a time-led intensity is required. Think James Bond on a deadline.
Ambient Western track, in no hurry to get anywhere in particular. Soaking up the desert heat at walking pace, it's a beautifully constructed mix of shimmering strummed electric guitar chords, tremolo and slide leads, whistles and harmonica that oozes Americana. Percussive hand drums add some horse flavours to the theme, a theme that at times is sad and nostalgic, at others more comfortable in its solitude, but portrays a lot more than just cowboys and saddle sores.
